Can I make a word search in my language?

Yes. Type the words in any language or alphabet: Spanish with ñ, Turkish, Greek, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Thai and so on. Each square holds one letter as you see it, including accents and vowel signs, and the extra letters in the grid are taken from your own words so they look like the real answers.

How do I print different versions for a class?

Set "Different versions" to the number you need, up to 30. The PDF then has one page per version, each with the same words hidden in different places, followed by the answer key for each version, numbered so they match.

What do easy, medium and hard change?

The directions the words run in. Easy hides words only left to right and top to bottom. Medium adds diagonals. Hard also hides words backwards, upwards and on every diagonal. A smaller grid also makes a puzzle harder because more words cross.

Why was a word left out?

It did not fit in the grid with the others, or it is longer than the grid. The page names any word it could not place. Choose a bigger grid size or press "New puzzle" to try another layout.

Are my words uploaded?

No. The puzzle, the PNG and the PDF are all made by this page in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How It Works

The page splits your list into words and each word into the letters you see, then places the longest words first in random spots and directions allowed by the difficulty, letting words cross where they share a letter. It tries several layouts and keeps the one that fits the most words, then fills the empty squares with letters from your own words.
