Free Dead Pixel Test
Check your screen for dead or stuck pixels with full-screen black, white, red, green, blue and grey, plus an optional stuck pixel fixer.
Fill the whole screen with one solid colour at a time and look for dots that stay the wrong colour. Pick the colour to start with, then step through the rest.
Clean the screen first so dust is not mistaken for a pixel. Look for a black dot on white, red, green and blue (dead pixel) and for a bright dot on black (stuck pixel). Sit at a normal distance and scan each colour slowly.
Stuck pixel fixer
A stuck pixel stays lit in one colour. Flashing colours quickly over it can sometimes free it. Drag the flashing square over the stuck pixel, or move it with the arrow keys, and leave it running.
Photosensitivity warning
The fixer flashes red, green, blue, white and black. Flashing lights can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy and can cause discomfort or headaches. Do not use it if you or anyone nearby may be sensitive to flashing images. Choose the slowest rate if unsure, and look away if you feel unwell.
Run it for about 10 minutes, then check the screen again with the colour test. This is not guaranteed to work. A dead pixel, which stays black, cannot be repaired by software.
🖥️ Nothing is uploaded or stored. The colours are drawn by your browser on your own screen.
How It Works
The test paints your whole screen one solid colour at a time so a single misbehaving pixel stands out against it.
- 1Choose a starting colourPick black, white, red, green, blue or grey, then click "Start full-screen test". The page asks your browser for full screen and covers the window if that is refused.
- 2Step through the coloursClick, tap or use the arrow keys and Space to move between colours. Look for dark dots on bright colours and bright dots on black.
- 3Try the stuck pixel fixer if neededRead the photosensitivity warning, tick the box, choose a rate and square size, then start. Drag the flashing square over the stuck pixel and let it run for about 10 minutes.
- 4ExitPress Esc or click "Exit" to leave full screen and return to this page.
Nothing leaves your device. The colours are rendered by your browser and no data about your screen is sent anywhere.
