How does the bracket handle byes?

If the number of entrants is not 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64, the bracket is padded up to the next size and the top seeds get a "Bye": they skip round 1 and start in round 2. With 6 entrants, for example, the bracket has 8 places and seeds 1 and 2 get byes. Seeds are placed in the standard order, so seeds 1 and 2 can only meet in the final, and a bye is never paired with another bye.

How do I record the winners?

Click a name in a match to move it to the next round, and click the same name again to undo it. If you change an earlier result, later results that depended on it are cleared. "Reset results" clears every result and keeps the bracket. The winner of the final appears in a box above the bracket.

What is the difference between the two seeding choices?

"Keep my list order as seeds (first name = seed 1)" makes the first name in the box seed 1, the second seed 2, and so on. "Shuffle randomly" puts the names in a random order drawn with your browser's secure random generator, and "Shuffle again" above the bracket redraws it and clears the results.

Does it support double elimination or more than 64 entrants?

No. This tool makes single-elimination brackets only, for 3 to 64 entrants, and a name is cut to 40 characters. There is no losers bracket or third-place match.

Can I save, download or print the bracket?

Your list, bracket and results are saved in this browser's local storage, never in the page address, so they are still there next time on the same device. Press "Download PNG" to save an image of the whole bracket, or "Print" to open a black-on-white page in your print dialog, where you can also choose "Save as PDF".
