How It Works

This EMI calculator works out the fixed monthly installment (EMI) for home, car, personal, or education loans using the standard reducing-balance method used by Indian banks, then shows exactly how each payment splits between principal and interest over the life of the loan.

  1. 1
Pick a loan type or enter your own figures
Choose a Home, Car, Personal, or Education preset to load sensible defaults, or type your loan amount (with a quick slider), annual interest rate, and tenure in years or months.
  2. 2
    See your EMI instantly
The monthly EMI is computed live as EMI = P*r*(1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n - 1), where r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months. Zero-interest loans simply divide the principal across the months.
  3. 3
    Explore the breakdown
A donut chart splits total principal versus total interest, and an amortization table shows each year's principal, interest, and remaining balance, expandable to month-by-month detail.
  4. 4
    Model prepayments
Add a one-time lump sum at a chosen month or a recurring monthly extra to see how much interest you save and how many months you shave off your tenure.
  5. 5
    Copy or share
Copy a clean text summary of your EMI, totals, and savings, or share it directly from your device.

Every calculation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your loan amount, rate, and tenure are never uploaded to any server.
