How It Works

A PDF keeps its title, author and dates twice: in the document information dictionary and in an XMP metadata packet that Acrobat, Preview and search engines prefer. The page opens the PDF with pdf-lib in your browser, writes your values to both, sets the document language and the "show title" flag, and saves a new copy without touching the pages.

  1. 1
    Open the PDF
Drop a PDF or press "Browse files". Its current title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, dates and language are filled in.
  2. 2
    Edit the fields
Change or clear any field. Separate keywords with commas. Leave a field empty to remove it from the file.
  3. 3
    Choose how it opens
Tick "Show the title instead of the file name" so browser tabs and Acrobat show your title. Set the language (such as en-US) so screen readers read it correctly.
  4. 4
    Save
Press "Save PDF" and download the copy. The modified date is set to now unless you untick it.

Your PDF is edited in this browser and never uploaded.
