Best-effort only. Arabizi is non-standard — the same word can be spelled many ways and one spelling can mean different things. This is a rule-based transliteration, not a translator or spell-checker. Short vowels, hamza placement, and dialect quirks may need manual touch-ups. Try a different dialect preset if a word looks off.

How It Works

Arabizi (also called Franco-Arabic or Arabic chat alphabet) writes Arabic using Latin letters and numerals that resemble Arabic letters, such as 3 for ع, 7 for ح, and 5 for خ. This tool transliterates Arabizi into Arabic script and converts Arabic back into Arabizi, all with rule-based logic and no machine learning.

  1. 1
    Pick a direction
Toggle between Franco to Arabic or Arabic to Franco. Live conversion updates as you type, so you see the result immediately.
  2. 2
    Choose a dialect preset
Select Standard, Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, or Maghrebi. Each preset tweaks a few mappings (for example, how g, j, and q are handled) to better match how people actually write in that region.
  3. 3
    Type or paste your text
Enter Arabizi like mar7aba ya 3arab, or paste Arabic script. A built-in dictionary of common words and a longest-match tokenizer handle numerals, digraphs (sh, gh, kh), and single letters.
  4. 4
    Copy or convert back
Copy the right-to-left output with one click, or use Convert back to round-trip the result and refine it. A numeral cheat sheet shows every digit-to-letter mapping.

All conversion happens locally in your browser using a built-in rule set. Your text is never uploaded, stored, or sent to any server.
