How do I use this teleprompter?

Paste your script into the "Your script" box and press "Start prompter". The page goes full screen and the text scrolls up past a highlighted reading line at the speed you set in words per minute. Press Space or tap the screen to pause and resume. Press Esc or "Exit" to go back.

How do I control the speed and text size?

Set the speed with the "Speed" slider before you start, from 40 to 300 words per minute (the default is 130). While it runs, use the "−" and "+" buttons or the up and down arrow keys to change it in steps of 5. "A−" and "A+" or the [ and ] keys change the text size, and the left and right arrows jump 5 seconds back or forward.

What does mirror mode do?

"Mirror horizontally (for prompter glass)" flips the text left to right, so it reads correctly when reflected in the angled glass of a beam-splitter prompter. "Flip vertically" turns it upside down for a screen mounted the other way up. You can also press M while it runs to switch the horizontal mirror.

Can I see my camera while I read?

Yes, if you tick "Show my camera behind the text" before you start, or press "Camera" while it runs. Your browser asks for permission first. The camera is off by default, the picture is only shown on this screen, and nothing is recorded or uploaded. It stops when you exit the prompter.

Is my script saved anywhere?

Your script and settings are kept in this browser's local storage so they are there next time you visit. They never go in the page address and are not uploaded. Press "Clear" to empty the script, or clear your browser data to remove everything. Scripts are limited to 100,000 characters.
