LibraTool is a collection of free browser tools at libratool.com. This page explains what happens to your files, what we measure about visits, and which outside services are involved. It is written in plain English and describes what the site actually does.
Your files and text
- Files you open in a tool, and text you type into one, are processed on your own device by code running in your browser. They are not uploaded to LibraTool and we cannot see them.
- Some tools first download a processing engine (for example ffmpeg or ONNX Runtime) or an open AI model from our servers, and your browser may keep it so the next visit is faster. That download goes to you; nothing of yours is sent back. The models are listed on the About page.
- The exception is live speech-to-text. It uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition, and the browser sends the audio to its maker: Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari. That transfer is between you and your browser vendor, under their privacy terms. The transcript is kept only in your browser.
Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., US cloud) to learn which pages and tools are used and whether they work. It records:
- page views and page exits, with the page address cut down to its path (anything you typed into the address, such as tool settings, is removed before it is sent);
- tool events such as “tool opened”, “processing finished” or “result downloaded”, with technical details like file format, a rough size range, device type and error codes, but never file names, file contents or the text you enter into a tool;
- what you type into the site’s tool search box, so we can see which tools people look for;
- page-speed measurements (Core Web Vitals);
- the text you type into the “Suggest a tool” form, if you send one.
PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser’s localStorage so that repeat visits can be counted. It does not use cookies for this. Our PostHog project is set to discard your IP address, and session recording and automatic click capture are switched off. You can remove the identifier at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, and blocking PostHog with a content blocker does not stop any tool from working.
Cloudflare
Pages load Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page-load performance without cookies or a persistent identifier. Cloudflare may also set a short-lived security cookie (cf_clearance) when it checks that a visitor is not a bot.
Hosting logs (Vercel)
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address, browser details and the address you requested when your browser loads a page or file, and keeps them in server logs for a limited time for security and operations. We do not combine these logs with analytics.
Things stored in your browser
There are no accounts. Your settings, favourite tools and similar preferences are saved in your browser’s localStorage or IndexedDB, together with downloaded engines and models. They stay on your device and you can delete them by clearing this site’s data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share personal data.
- We do not ask for your name, email address or any account details.
- We do not upload, keep or look at your files.
