Will the alarm ring if I close the tab or lock my phone?

No. A web page can only ring while it is open in a browser that is running. If the computer sleeps, the browser is closed, or a phone locks and freezes the tab, nothing rings. Keep the tab open, keep the device awake and plugged in if you can, and keep the volume up. The page checks the clock every half second and, if the browser slowed it down in the background, it still rings when it wakes up within 5 minutes of the alarm time. After that the alarm is skipped.

What tones are there, and why is there no sound?

There are six tones made in your browser with WebAudio, so no sound files are downloaded: "Classic beeps", "Digital", "Chime", "Bell", "Siren" and "Gentle rise". Press "Test tone" to hear the chosen one for 4 seconds and use the "Volume" slider to set it. Browsers block sound until you click or tap the page, so after you reload, click anywhere once. The "Sound is ready." line tells you when it is allowed.

How do snooze, repeat days and the stop button work?

When an alarm rings, press "Stop" to end it or "Snooze" to make it ring again after the "Snooze length" you chose (5, 10 or 15 minutes). An alarm you do not touch is silenced after 10 minutes. Choose "Weekdays", "Weekends", "Every day" or single days under "Repeat on"; an alarm set to "Once" switches itself off after it rings. You can keep up to 20 alarms.

What do "Keep the screen awake" and "Enable notifications" do?

"Keep the screen awake while this page is open" asks the browser for a screen wake lock, which stops the screen from turning off while this tab is visible. It is only available in browsers that support it and uses more battery. "Enable notifications" asks permission to show a notification when an alarm rings. Neither makes an alarm ring when the page is closed.

Yes, in this browser's local storage, along with your 12-hour or 24-hour choice, volume and snooze length. They are not uploaded and not put in the page address, so another browser or device will not have them. The big clock shows the time and the countdown to the next alarm, which you can change between "12-hour" and "24-hour".

How It Works

The page reads your device clock twice a second, compares it with each saved alarm, and when one is due it builds the tone with WebAudio oscillators and plays it until you stop or snooze it.
