How It Works

A video file such as MKV or MP4 can carry several subtitle tracks next to the picture and the sound. The page asks ffmpeg (compiled to WebAssembly, in your browser) to list them, then writes each track you pick to its own file in a single read of the video. Text subtitles keep their wording and timing exactly; picture subtitles from Blu-rays and DVDs are copied as they are.

  1. 1
    Open the video
Drop an MKV, MP4, MOV, WebM or TS file, or press "Browse files". Large films work: the file is read where it is, not copied into memory.
  2. 2
    Pick the tracks
Every subtitle track is listed with its language, title and flags such as Forced or SDH. All are ticked; untick the ones you don't want.
  3. 3
    Choose the format
Original keeps each track's own format (SRT stays SRT, ASS keeps its styles). Or turn them all into .srt, .vtt or .ass.
  4. 4
    Extract and save
Press "Extract". Each file is named like Movie.eng.srt, so players load it next to the video. Save one, or all of them as a ZIP.

Your video is read in this browser and never uploaded.
