How It Works

All calculation runs directly in the browser using a hand-written arithmetic parser β€” no library, no server round-trip. Clock-in/out times are parsed into minutes-since-midnight, break minutes are subtracted, and overnight shifts are handled by detecting when the end time is earlier than the start.

  1. 1
    Enter times per day
For each day of the week you enter a start time, end time, and unpaid break duration in minutes. The tool uses the browser's native time input, so you get a clock picker on mobile and a typed field on desktop.
  2. 2
    Per-day arithmetic in minutes
A small function converts each HH:MM string to minutes-since-midnight, subtracts the break, and adds 24 hours automatically when the end time is earlier than the start (overnight shift support). Invalid or empty rows are skipped without throwing an error.
  3. 3
    Weekly totals and overtime split
Daily minute totals are summed to a weekly figure. If overtime is enabled, hours beyond 40 are separated and multiplied at 1.5x the hourly rate you enter, following the standard US FLSA overtime rule. The gross pay result updates live as you type.
  4. 4
    Auto-save and CSV export
The full week state (times, break minutes, rate, overtime toggle) is written to localStorage on every change so the card survives a page refresh. Clicking Export builds a UTF-8 CSV with a BOM header for correct Excel rendering, then triggers a browser download.

Your time entries and pay rate are stored only in your browser's localStorage and are never sent to any server.
