How do I remove silence from a video for free?

Can it make jump cuts automatically?

Yes. Every pause longer than the minimum you set becomes a jump cut, with a little silence kept around each word (the padding) so speech does not sound clipped. You stay in control: tap any red stretch on the timeline, or use the list of pauses, to keep that pause, and play each join before you render.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The sound analysis and the video encoding both run in your browser with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The only download is the video engine itself (about 31 MB), once, from our own server. Your file never leaves your device.

Will it cut breaths, "um"s and filler words?

Not reliably, and it does not try to understand words. It cuts by loudness: quiet breaths and room noise go with the pause when they are below the threshold, but an "um" or a loud breath is sound, so it stays. Raising the threshold catches more breaths but can clip quiet word endings; preview the joins to check.

What is the difference between Exact and Fast?

Exact cuts on the frame you see and re-encodes the video to H.264, so every pause is removed precisely. It takes a while: on most devices longer than the video plays, and the tool shows an estimate for yours. Fast copies the video without re-encoding, keeping its original quality, but a video can only be cut at its keyframes, so short pauses may stay. The tool shows how much each mode would remove.

Are my files uploaded?

The audio is decoded on your device and its loudness measured every 5 ms. The silence threshold starts from the recording's own noise floor.

Every stretch quieter than the threshold for longer than the minimum pause is marked, minus the padding kept around speech. Tap a marked pause to keep it.
