How do I remove a background from a photo and get a transparent PNG?

Does my photo get uploaded to remove the background?

No. An AI model (ISNet, run with onnxruntime-web) runs in your browser. It downloads once, about 47 MB plus a runtime file, then works offline. Only the model and runtime are fetched, never your image.

What size and formats does the background remover accept?

JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB. Very large pixel counts are downscaled to fit browser memory, with a note showing the size used. Export as PNG, WebP or JPG.

How can I fix rough edges around hair or fur?

Open Touch up and paint with Erase or Restore. Under Refine edges, adjust Threshold, Feather and Shrink / expand, and try Snap edges to photo detail and Remove colour fringe.

How do I make a passport or marketplace photo with a white background?

Under Quick backgrounds pick White, Passport blue, Red or Light grey. Under Output size choose Passport 35x45 mm, ID photo 600x600 or Marketplace 1000x1000. JPG fills the background colour.

The AI model downloads once
The first time you press Remove Background, the page shows the exact size (about 44 MB) and downloads the model from LibraTool's own server. Your browser keeps it, so later visits skip this step.

The model finds the subject
The model runs in the background on your device and decides, pixel by pixel, what is subject and what is background. The page stays responsive, and Cancel stops it straight away.

You get a full-resolution transparent PNG
The cut-out is applied to your original pixels at full resolution. Compare before and after, refine the edges, touch up with the erase and restore brush, pick a new background, then save as PNG, WebP or JPG.

Open your browser's network inspector while using this tool — you'll see the model download once, from LibraTool's own server, and then no requests at all while your image is processed. Your image is never uploaded anywhere, even temporarily.
