YouTube Thumbnail tips
YouTube requires thumbnails at 1280×720 px (16:9 ratio). Files must be under 2 MB in JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP.
High-contrast images with bold text perform best. Faces showing clear emotion consistently outperform text-only thumbnails.
Your thumbnail also appears at 120×90 px in search results. Test at that size to ensure it's still readable when tiny.
Over 70% of YouTube watch time is on mobile. Make sure text is large enough to read on a phone screen.
