Loom, Vidyard, and most "free" recorders upload your recording to their servers and gate real use behind a sign-up. This recorder uses the browser's built-in screen-capture and recording APIs, so the video is created and saved entirely on your device.

You grant screen-capture permission
The browser's getDisplayMedia API asks which screen, window, or tab to share. You can also add your microphone with getUserMedia. The browser — not this site — controls the permission.

The media streams are combined locally
The screen video, optional system/tab audio, and optional microphone are mixed together in your browser using the Web Audio API. No stream is ever sent over the network.

MediaRecorder encodes the video
The browser's MediaRecorder API encodes the combined stream to WebM in real time, buffering chunks in memory as you record.

You download the finished recording
When you stop, the chunks are assembled into a single video file and offered for download. Nothing was uploaded at any point.

Because the recording is captured and encoded by your own browser, it never touches a server — no account, no upload, no watermark, and no time limit. Safe for recording sensitive demos, internal tools, and private walkthroughs. (Desktop browsers only; iOS uses its built-in recorder.)
