Most phones want ringtones around 20–30 seconds. Drag the handles to the catchiest hook and watch the selection length update.
Add a fade in and fade out so the ringtone starts and ends smoothly instead of cutting off abruptly.
For iPhone, convert the trimmed clip to M4A (in the audio converter) and rename it .m4r; Android accepts MP3 directly.
